Skype is a free application that allows you to try VOIP with a minimum of hassle. It works like this: You download and install the app, a friend of yours installs the app. You both have voice chat across the internet for free. It is that simple. There are only a few hardware requirements, which most PC systems should meet out of the box: - PC running Windows 2000 or XP (pro or home version)
- 400 MHz processor or faster
- 128 mb Memory minimum
- 10 MB free disk space on your hard drive
- Sound Card, speaker(s) and microphone
- Internet Connection - minimum 33.6k connection speed
Skype is ad free, allows you to make unlimited calls worldwide, lets you talk to up to 5 people at once, works with firewalls, and encrypts your calls.
Skype is spyware and adware free, so you shouldn't have any unwanted nasties after installation.
